The recent release of iOS 17 from Apple is poised to revolutionize the recruitment landscape. As technology has evolved over time, embracing text, email, and various social platform reach-outs, has created a noticeable shift in how potential candidates engage with communication. Similar to our personal lives, where voicemails often go unheard, candidates tend to respond promptly to text messages and certainly before checking their voicemail messages.
The societal norm has become to route calls from unknown numbers to voicemail, and more often than not, we don’t listen to those messages promptly because we assume they might be spam or unrelated. The recent iOS 17 upgrade from Apple is going to change the game. This upgrade enables candidates to view “live voicemails” while they’re happening. Candidates now have the option to halt the voicemail and immediately answer the recruiter’s call.
Picture this scenario: you’re a candidate in the office (not remote), unable to speak in privacy and the moment you receive a call, you send the person to voicemail. But because you can actively observe what’s unfolding on your iPhone as someone leaves you a voicemail, it might prompt you to step out and take that call, even as the voicemail is being transcribed live.
This transformative feature is set to have a profound impact on both Recruiter and Candidate behavior. Candidates gain more control over engaging with recruiters they haven’t met, all thanks to Apple’s live voicemail feature. It’s undeniably a game-changing development. I genuinely believe this will have a significant impact, not only in my professional life but also in my personal life. If I come across a number I don’t recognize but can see their message, I’ll be more inclined to answer. I’m confident this shift will be particularly noteworthy in the business realm, especially in recruiting. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to witnessing its effects.
