Prepare for Meetings
Take the stress out of meetings with apps like Evernote and Powerpoint that are designed specifically for the small screen. Evernote allows you to dictate notes, complete to-dos by tapping boxes in your checklists, and even setting and creating new reminders. When you need to reference a name or notes before a big meeting, do a voice search to find and open the information quickly all from the app. PowerPoint is another useful app that allows you to start a slideshow, easily move from one slide to the next, and view at a glance features from your watch.
Time Keeping
Once you’ve prepared for your meeting, it’s important that everything runs smoothly. With the time tracking feature, you can make sure you cover all the important information during your allotted time without the risk of running over or leaving anything out.
Calendar Management
Another important feature for busy salespeople is to have quick access to your calendar while you’re on the go. On the Apple Watch, you can view your calendar right from the interface and even use Siri to set reminders for meetings and create new events on your calendar.
Ease of Travel
If you have a meeting in an unfamiliar city, there are some great apps to help you get there and then navigate with ease. The American Airlines app will alert you when it’s time to leave for the airport, check in via the watch, give you terminal and baggage claim updates, and even display your boarding pass information on the watch interface. For getting around, Citymapper is perfect because it gives you information about many different types of transportation. The app pulls in Google Maps and public transportation lines and gives you directions by bus, train, bicycle, and even walking. It will even tell you the projected cost of using the public transportation and taxis.
Quick Follow Up
After completing a successful sales meeting, you’re going to have a few follow ups. You can quickly send out an email to all the attendees or brief your boss about how everything went, all from your watch. Respond to any texts from colleagues you might have missed during the meeting or any other urgent inquiries in an instant.
Virtual Sales Coaching
As more apps are being developed for the Apple Watch, there is more opportunity to use the watch as a virtual learning tool. In the meantime, we thought of some untested suggestions you can use on your watch right now for real time sales coaching.
First, you can use the heart rate monitor to see if you’re getting overly excited during a sales call. If you find this happening, then you know you need to slow down and focus on communicating clearly and effectively. Next, ask a sales manager to go with you on a prospect call. Have them use the virtual tap feature on their watch to silently alert you when you need to stop pitching and let the customer do some talking.
And finally, when all of your preparation pays off and you make a big sale, you can use your watch to make a reservation at your favorite restaurant to celebrate. And of course, don’t forget to pick up the tab. Bonus points if you can use your watch to pay.
